The five-day Young Astronaut’s Program at Bloomz International School got the participating students very excited about the different aspects that are taken into account when Astronauts are being trained at NASA. IMG_20191030_170734
Day one started with an ice-breaking session with the 46 participants & their parents. The students were aged between 8 to 18 years. The sorting session of the students into mixed groups gave the students a chance to mingle with each other and formed groups which would work closely for the next few days doing loads of S.T.E.M activities & challenges as a team. The next few day’s agenda was discussed and the children made parachute rovers from scratch with their teams.
Day 2 unfolded with the teams being explained and asked to make & design their own Mars space stations and a lot of innovative ideas came forward as the teams presented their ideas to each other. IMG_20191030_172308
Day 3 & Day 4 – The teams tested their parachutes by launching them from within BLoomz International School’s top floor into the spacious indoor sports hall. The students were made to think about the risks and consequences of their parachutes being launched in certain ways so they would land safely or else be damaged in the landing process. The two days the students were exposed to pool time where they took part in problem-solving activities in the pool, they were shown scuba diving equipment and how similar the experience of being underwater is to being in space.IMG_20191101_153509IMG_20191101_154431
On the last day of the workshop the students prepared their presentations as teams about what they learned and their experience of the last few days. Parents were invited to an award ceremony & graduation of students for the NASA YAP program at Bloomz International School, Nuvem campus.
Parents were impressed when their children launched chemical rockets, water pressure rockets at the Bloomz School Nuvem campus. IMG_20191103_161825
